It’s strange how quickly web design has moved on in some areas, and stayed the same in others. For example the actual layout of a page has changed very little, with navigational menus and content areas for viewing usually in the same place on every site you go to. The method of delivering this however has ranged from garish web-safe backgrounds, through to frames and flash interaction, back down to the new HTML5 standard which puts the ball back into the court of text/code based interaction once more. Another thing that many sites still fail to address in their designs is the interaction with the customer: many are still wedded to the click-and-present model, although sharing and interaction was always the intention behind the model of the web.
